Antlers Bridge Project

The sun was out and the traffic was light so I had a chance to get a few "windshield shots" as I passed the bridge today. They are working clearing trees and will probably start with some grading when the rain stops.

Buses

Saw a couple of interesting buses today. The first one got away, it was the "Brooks and Dunn" concert bus. The other was for Alaskan Routes.

Antlers Bridge Project

The sun came out for a few minutes today and I had a chance to get a couple of pictures from the other side of the lake. The top picture is on the left and the bottom is on the right to make a complete layout.

Antlers Bridge Project

The lake is almost full now. Only 7 feet from the top. The equipment and workers have moved to the other side of the lake where the freeway will change course and accept the new bridge. They are cutting trees, shredding brush and doing general road work.

Maggiano's "Little Italy"

I don't often recommend a restaurant, but I don't often eat at a restaurant as good as Maggiano's Little Italy in San Jose. We were in the Bay Area for a funeral and the wake was held at this restaurant. It is some of the best Italian food I have ever had, all fresh ingredients, very delicious.

Google Mapping Car

Saw one of the many Google mapping cars today on the freeway in the Bay Area on a trip to Santa Clara.

Ager-Beswick Road

Jerome Ager saw the need for a store and hotel, saloon and dance hall as the railroad went from Weed, CA to Klamath Falls, OR. Ager became a railroad staging and freight hub. Activities slowed in 1909 with the completion of the railroad and the town of Ager faded away. This monument is near the railroad tracks and Ager-Beswick road.

Road Work Ahead

They make it so hard for impatient people to get around them and of course the flagger is always camera shy.

Antlers Bridge Project

I had a chance to stop and get a few more pictures the other day. The lake level is now only about 11 feet from the top and we are expecting more rain this week.

We're Not in Kansas Anymore, Toto...

The other day I had a stop in the foothills surrounding Montague on York road and saw this old Allis-Chalmers dozer that looked like it has been still working, and a small squirrel trying to get to the other side of the road.

Full Lake at Bridge Bay Resort

Ready for summer, pretty boats all in a row...
I finished a Photosynth with about 10 pictures blended together here
What a difference from a few years ago when the lake was down 145 feet from full.

Another Snow Storm

Yes, it is the middle of April in California but we had another snow storm. I-5 northbound was closed this morning just north of Redding for a few hours while they sorted things out. Mount Shasta and Dunsmuir got a few inches of snow.

Antlers Bridge Project

They have started working again on the bridge after several days of rain and snow. They are also working across the lake on the east side of the bridge where the new bridge will meet the land so it is hard to get pictures from there right now. The lake level is up another foot or so and about 20 feet from the top.

Alien Cloud Formation

This was quite a different type of cloud formation and not the normal lenticular cloud that forms often over the top of Mount Shasta.

Another Snowstorm

Another snowstorm in the McCloud-Mount Shasta area again on Sunday and Sunday night brought about another foot of snow to the area. I saw the u Haul and car trailer off the side of the road buried in snow but the driver must have gotten out ok.

"Spring" Snowstorm

What a day Friday! We had a powerful spring snowstorm that brought several inches of snow in a short while causing numerous accidents, road closures, chain controls, and detours in most of the areas I traveled. I was taking a "short cut" down a back road and came up behind a tow truck and figured it may not be good to go this way as there must be someone else off the road in the ditch or another accident. Fortunately I did get to my next stop.

Route Animals

I had to stop by a "cat house" the other day, and then 'oh dear', a lawn full of deer in Yreka.
