Trader Joes Coming

Trader Joes has been "going to open" for some time and it keeps changing but they started taking applications on Monday. 1200 people showed up in the morning. Maybe it is because so many are out of work here.

Shasta County's unemployment rate spiked to a 16-year high in January, the state reported Thursday. Driven by continued job losses in the construction industry, Shasta's unemployment rate in January was 15.2 percent, nearly 5 percentage points higher than in January 2008, when it registered 10.3 percent, and up from December's 12.4 percent. It was the highest for any month since January 1993's 15.9 percent. Before that, the highest unemployment rate for a January was in 1985, when it hit 17.2 percent.
